Mérida

Mérida is the capital of the Extremadura region in Spain, famed for its large collection of well-preserved Roman ruins. Founded in 25 BC by the order of Emperor Augustus, the city was name Emeritus Augustus, from which the current name Mérida derived from. The most famous Roman sites of Mérida are the amphitheatre, the colloseum and the aquaduct.
